Figure Drawing i

Figure Drawing I is for students who are interested in learning the basics of how to draw the human body. Over three weeks in July, students will exercise several different methods of gesture when drawing the figure, as well as learn basic proportions of the body. Following Anthony Ryder's methods, we will practice the "envelope" and "blocking in" processes from photo references and live, nude models. We will study the subtle contour lines of skin, working mainly in graphite pencil and charcoal. By the end of this course, students will have the necessary understanding of the figure in order to move onto more advanced studies like anatomy and value.
